Merry Christmas! (And all the goodies I got!)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! My mom was able to visit and we watched The Nightmare before Christmas together...but she got bored with it and did crossword puzzles in the kitchen. (Hehe) After being woke up very early by the rabbit we opened out gifts and lazed around before heading over to his families house and feasting. I look forward to his grandmothers homemade french onion soup every year. (So tasty!) Here is everything I got:

1. Slytherin Crest Tank top (because Harry Potter!)
2.Books a Million Gift card (from rabbits mother..she also got me a cute skeleton hat and glove set, and a skeleton top.)
 3. Rammstein Made in Germany special edition cd set
4. Tokyomilk Arsenic Gift set (this stuff smells like heaven!)
5. Edward Scissorhands dvd
6. American Horror Story Season 2 dvd

My mother also gave us both money and his grandparents did the same. I am stuffed and I plan on taking a lovely nap. I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday!

December favorites! (And The Temple of Love.)

Oh...it is that time of the year. My birthday is also this month and I have requested an ice cream cake with bats on it. Hehe. I am finally done with my finals and I came to a realization. I have not read a good book in a while and I am always busy with classes or work. So I decided to take this semester off. This will give me time to get more hours and save up for a beach trip and a summer class I need to take. And I do deserve a good break. College is exhausting!

My love gave me a present early since I planned on taking him to get one of his presents. (Imagine trying to wrap a bean bag...ugh!) Speaking of my lovely Rabbit, we have been together for a year and a half! He is the best thing to happen to me! (Prepare for lovey dovey nonsense.) He is my best friend, he always makes me laugh when I need cheering up,he loves me for me,he gets me interested in movies I would never think of watching, and he makes a delicious cucumber salad.

Silly rabbit! And look he plays the drums! *swoon*

Temple of love love love!

So on to my favorites! I have been listening to a lot of Sisters of Mercy lately. (Temple of Love on repeat basically.) And I discovered the magic of Impress press on nails. I only really get the black ones and they last for almost two weeks. This is a miracle because after one day of painting my nails they are chipped as hell. Ain't nobody got time for that. My early gift was a Stanly Kubrick movie set which included The Shining. I have never really seen the movie fully. Only bits and pieces. And recently I have bought lots of books by Poppy Z. Brite. She is such a good writer and very descriptive. I am currently reading Drawing Blood and so far...AMAZING.

Oh and be expecting a Christmas post and a birthday post!

Merry Winter Solstice!

Hatred within the goth community and why I like nu goth fashion.

So Sary Walrus posted this which includes the lovely Kazlovesbats talking about goths attacking other goths within the scene. I do not have this trouble since there are not many goths where I live. But online...well...that is a different story. Since when is it okay to make rules within the goth community? When is it okay for one to determine what "goth is and what it is not". I do know that the Gothic subculture started as an off-shoot of the post-punk genre. But it also evolved with 19th century Gothic literature, campy shows like The Munsters, and even Tim Burton adding to this culture.  In my opinion Goth now is what you make of it. It is not just listening to specific music but it is a way of life. It is finding beauty in the darkness. Every person is different, so what Goth means to me will not be the same for others. There are many new styles of Goth withing the subculture. The newest styles emerging are pastel goth and nu goth. Nu goth being not too far from traditional goths. Think about it...torn tights,BDSM influences, and esoteric symbols. Pastel goth seems to be a mash up of lolita and grunge. Pastel goths incorporate spooky imagery but with lighter colors. Goths have black bats and they have lilac bats. I personally like certain aspects of both of these styles. I do incorporate some things into my wardrobe.

Why? Because my style is constantly evolving. Aesthetically I like the look of ripped knee highs and baggy sweaters. (Robert Smith was the king of baggy sweaters by the way.) I like big round sunglasses and clunky 90's shoes. (I own a pair of Mudd shoes.) I love skeleton hair clips and layering torn fabrics together. As Goths we do evolve. We decide that we are not dressing this way for others but for us. Goths as much as anybody need to accept others for their choices. The popularity of nu-goth has also made it easier for me to get clothing in "normal" stores. (There is a store that has a bat printed onesie for crying out loud!) There is slight controversy (ahem...people bitching...) about "nu-goths are not goth...they do not listen to goth music..they just copy our style!" but hello...there are plenty of goths that do not listen to Sisters of Mercy. There are goths who like mainstream music, industrial music, classical music, and hell my spotify playlist is all over the place. So for the "elite" goths that decide the rules of goth...go fuck yourself. I am no less of a Goth because of my interests.

Sugar and Spite Bathery Review!

So I was planning on posting pictures of my order when I go it...but due to excitement I tore everything open. I have no shame....none at all. But everything was packaged so wonderfully! Complete with creepy twins, black ribbon, wax seals, and candy canes! Onward to the smells!

The Halloween 2013 Sampler Pack

Fiend
"Ripe apple pulp, tart mandarin, vanilla bean, and a fiendish ribbon of black amber."

Okay...first of all...Fiend is my favorite word to use. It just sounds nice to say. Fiend, Fiend, Fiend. Anyway at first smell on the skin I smell...honeysuckles? Weeeeird. But lovely..reminds me of summer down here in Alabama. and normally I despise florals...but this is just...amazing. The die down is vanilla and black amber. Very lovely indeed.

Sinister
"Le Carnival Noir! Black licorice whips, tea leaves, and incense smoke from darkened caravans"
First thing I smell...LICORICE. So much licorice...gah. Not liking this at all. But the dry down...oh this is nice. Tea and incense smoke. This smells like my kitchen when I have a late night cup of tea. I can get over the licorice.

Goblin
" Blackened honey kissed by night blooming flowers and a ghostly whisper of smoky vanilla"

Oh Mama. This smells like nag champa. Yesssss my precioussss. Honey tends to smell like piss on me. But not this oh no sir. Okay now the dry down..vanilla cookies and incense. Must get more of this!

These are some general catalogue scents I ordered also...

Leopold
"A sweet blend of vanilla bean, amber, musk, and white pepper."

*moans* This is heaven...enough said.

Brewster
"Buttercream icing, candied violets, and vanilla cake."

Not really getting the violets...just lovely cake and icing. This is a more mature vanilla scent. Me likey.

Miss Fortune
" Curiously sweet and dark. Tobacco leaf, a trio of rich musks, new mown hay, and a drizzle of creamy vanilla bourbon."

Upon first sniff I smell the hay...but very faintly. Then creamy vanilla....then the die down is musks. Oh yes...full size away!

Some freebies I got:

Sugar frost
"A creamy, beautiful marriage of vanilla, a kiss of mint, and a top quality Indian attar".

Oh lord mint! This made me shiver...oh this is new. What the hell is attar? *quickly searches* Oh it is basically Indian perfume. Which means incense! O yea! Full sized yes please.

And I was given a peppermint clove lip balm after posting on the Facebook page about the yule items just being put up after my order was placed. And I want...no..need clove lip balm in my life. Is it awesome? Yes. Does it leave my lips sticky so my man refuses to kiss me? Nope. Holy grail lip balm...perhaps!

You can find her Facebook here and her etsy page here.

November Baby Bat Advice and the shamless wants.

Ohai! Been a minute yes? Well...one word for you...FINALS! *resists urge to claw out eyes* So I got nothing but good words about my baby by advice in October so this will be a monthly thing! Hurrah! And also the  weather is finally cold. Well occasionally...Alabama weather is a fickle mistress. Which in turn makes my sinuses freak out. So I have been layering like a fiend on the cold days. Onward to the advice!

1. You are beautiful! Do not listen to negative comments!

It is hard when others constantly bomb you with hate. I know it is very hard to ignore negative comments. Trust me...I know. My family always claimed I would get nowhere in life dressing the way I do. I was called a loser, ugly, dog face, and many other things in school. But you know what? I have a job I enjoy. I am pursuing the career of my dreams. I probably have a better education than any of those fools. (I also plan on going to get a second degree. My mother says I will be in school all my life..hehe) Sure I hear negative things...but simple comments like, "You are a work of art." or "Thank you for not being afraid to be yourself." from strangers out shine all the hate. Remember...those people do mold you into a better person. I try not to hate others because I never want to be "that person" in life. So hold your head high baby bat and proudly flap your wings into the night!

2. Expand your taste in music and clothing.

My favorite music includes 1950s love ballads, 1960s classic rock, electronic, industrial, black metal, and 1980s anything. I can go from David Bowie to Cradle of Filth in three seconds. Why? I have a varied taste! You never know what you like until you try or listen to it. Just because you are goth does not mean you MUST listen to strictly "Goth Music".  Others may disagree...but those people...are not you! Fuck em! Incorporate other styles into your current wardrobe. For summer I like maxi dresses and shredded shorts. Bohemian touches look very lovely with the gothic wardrobe. Trust me...you will grow tired of Tripp pants and band shirts eventually. Try something new!

And now shameless wants:

This necklace, this nail polish, this dress, and this little piece of my childhood!

Current favorites and why I have been absent!

Well I had a lovely Halloween and my costume was Alex Delarge from A ClockWork Orange. I made my very first punk vest. Think lots of safety pins and patches. I was going to upload pictures but for some reason I cannot upload any I took via my phone. This has given me much frustration. For a whole day I tried to upload pictures to no avail. I even had some pictures of recent thrift finds. But nooooo...ah well.

I won a Halloween contest started by The Gothic Optician who has a Facebook here. I won with this picture!

I have never won a contest before so....I am so very happy! I also discovered a local specialty store called Mineral Way. They specialize in hand crafted mineral makeup. Also they can create custom colors and they perfectly matched a shade to match me. Which is amazing! I am so pale with yellow undertones so makeup searching is a pain in the buns. During the warmer weather I found a wonderful trench coat and have been wearing it nonstop. And lately since Christmas is nearing stores are selling scents in the holiday theme...which means...Vanilla all the things! I love that I can make the house smell like a giant sugar cookie...but my man despises it. *shrugs* How can there be too much vanilla?! Also since making the punk vest I have been interested in adding crustpunk elements into my wardrobe. Which reminds me..I need to invest in good quality combat boots. My favorite pair is already falling apart after only three months. So do you have any recommendations for a good brand of combats?

Arx Mortis and how circus music creeps me out!

So last night me and my love went to a Halloween Attraction called Arx Mortis..which is Latin for "death fortress" I believe. Last year we went to one called Atrox Factory but we were not too pleased. Visually it was great but we did not get scared once. The drive was around an hour or so and we passed the time by reading funny signs and listening to music too loud. I wore a new shirt for the campy horror movie, "The Satanic Rites of Dracula" and layered like nobodies business. It got soooo cold so I ended up stealing Micheal's jacket when we got to the place.

I caught him! He is not fond of pictures..heehe.

The tickets were being sold at seven and we got there around six. And the line was already huge. But we got inside very quickly. You bought your ticket and was placed in a group by colors and they would announce which group was next. You could get some snacks or check out the gift shop before you were called. I purchased some very cute string dolls (Beetlejuice,Pinhead, and Iron Man) and a little backpack that has the Arx Mortis logo on it. It was very tempting to buy all the things! They had Bloody Mary makeup,Alchemy Gothic jewelry and nifty claw rings. (Which my man bought) As we ate our snacks our group was called and we almost missed it! The first part was outdoors with dimly lit wooded paths littered with wooden spikes and nuclear waste. This part did not really scare me but I enjoyed the scenery of the sets. The indoor part started with "Covington Clinic". A hospital gone horribly wrong. The scenes were very professional and seemed to be the set of a horror movie. Moving along we went into what seemed to look like a cave. A pitch black cave. Things overhead touched my face and I was actually frightened by the utter darkness. Part of the area was another outdoor area where we had to trek across a creepy wooden bridge where people hiding in the overhead part scared me! They were disguised as moss..how genius! Next was a graveyard scene complete with mausoleums and creepy fog. Then was the horror show..the top of a circus tent loomed into view. Keep in mind I am afraid of clowns. This area...somehow they made it smell like cotton candy. This part really got to me with the psycho fortune tellers and clowns with chainsaws...*shudders*.  We both really enjoyed our trip and the attraction was around an hour long. We both go some scares which is rare for us horror nerds. So do you love getting scared?

Updates! Patches! Reviews! Oh my!

So I have been busy as always with work and classes...as usual. The weather has been amazing lately and perfect for sweaters.  I have been...going a little crazy with Halloween shopping. But my will power is weak when faced with cute bats and skeletons. This weekend I plan on going to a local Halloween attraction called Arx Mortis which you can take a look at here. And yes..pictures will be taken!

I also recieved my order from Bath and Body works because not only can you get two items free when you buy three items...I qualified for free shipping. Yes please! No pictures due to me tearing into the package like a little kid. But everything was nicely packaged and my order came with coupons and a little booklet of other fragrances. Here is what I got:

Brown Sugar and Fig shower gel and body mist:

"Brown Sugar & Fig is a sweet medley of fresh fig and coconut milk, sprinkled with caramelized brown sugar"

This is only around during the Fall season and I have smelled it before and fell in love. Lovely warm vanilla with a sweet fig bite. It dries down to a musky caramel. Yes please!

Dark Kiss body mist:

"Seductive blend of dark berries with a kiss of vanilla to unleash your most primal passion"

Yet another limited time fragrance. On me the berries are not very prominent but instead I get a deep vanilla, amber, and slightly incensey sort of smell. But this is not a loud in your face fragrance. It's subtle and clings to the skin.

Forever Midnight

"Midnight: the hour of undeniable chemistry. A spark of sensual Plum Nectar ignites the thrilling heart of Midnight Jasmine and Vanilla Orchid, velvety florals that bloom sexiest after dark with a hint of seductive spice. The final rush of intoxicating Caramel Liqueur creates the ultimate collision of fragrance and passion"

This is only available in a mini spray bottle since it just premiered. Hmmm a floral scent I actually like! On me I smell orchids, rich vanilla, and a tiny hint of jasmine. Very sexy and reminds me of a poison garden at night. In the dry down I can get a hint of the caramel liqueur. Me likey.

The other scents I got were for free and I decided to get my man's mother something for Christmas. A lotion and shower gel in the scent Butterfly Flower. Go me for early Christmas shopping!

I also recently baught a dark wash denim vest with spikes on the collar..very boring so I plan on adding various patches and buttons. Hence why I have been experimenting in DIY patch making. Nothing has been sewn onto the vest but I am very proud of my first attempts at these two patches.

The first one is the Rammstein logo and of course a mandatory ankh. Not too bad  considering these were freehand. I used a white pencil to do the basic outline and went over with white acrylic paint. More pics will be posted when I get the vest done. And I have had my eye on some horror themed buttons. So...have you experimented witch patch making before? Oh and here is me with some Nightmare Before Christmas plushies I snagged from work.

Yes I am 21 and no I am not too old for toys!

Playlist of the week and advice for babybats!

So my busy life has gotten busier! As soon as I get out of class I have to start getting ready for work, and as soon as I get off work I have to do homework for classes! But I am trying to only get four days a week of work since the stress is probably going to give me ulcers. But Halloween is slowly creeping up and I almost have my costume together! (Oh and pictures will be posted of it!) Also since I have a legit camera now I can attempt to start making Youtube videos.

Here is this weeks music recommendations and tunes that I love and inspire my art.

Rammstein-Links 2 3 4

The 69 eyes-Sister of Charity

Pete and the Pirates-Blood Gets Thin

HIM- Join Me In Death

Screamin' Jay Hawkins- I Put A Spell on You

I also had this little idea to do a monthly "Baby bat advice" post. Because I know when I was just getting my bat wings I needed tips. But we all need a little guidance at least once in a while!

1. Make friends with everyone regardless of how they dress.

Some of my best friends are not goth at all. If I was to single out friends just based on how they look..well I would have no friends! Also if you are still in school if you decide to be rude or not socialize with others because they are not goth...well you look just as bad as the "popular" crowd. Just saying.

2. You do not have to wear black 24/7 to be considered goth.

I made this mistake and I thought I had to wear nothing but black all the time. If you set rules like this for yourself you will grow tired of them and eventually break them. And put yourself in a clothing rut! Despite what some elitists say..well just ignore the elitists...you can wear other colors. I tend to wear bright colors of eyeshadow to match other colors in my outfits. Try different colored tights, bright eyeshadow, various colors of jewelry, and even colored articles of clothing to make the all black pop. Trust me...you will not loose your "goth card".

3.  You can be interested in non-gothy things!

Not all goths read vampire books by candle light and frequent cemeteries. Some do not even like vampires! If you love playing the tuba and you are goth...do not stop playing because it is "not goth". Oh and you can paint your nails pink and watch football games. Loving things like this or even loving the color does not mean you are "not goth".

Fall inspiration and my new closet

So Fall is sneaking up slowly. The weather is still warm though but stores are now stocking up on Autumn and Halloween goodies. At work I have started to make pumpkin spice everything for customers as part of the Fall drink promotion. I have gotten rid of so much clothing and started to fill my closet with new pieces that I really love. My inspirations have ranged from nu goth to traditional goth. Here is a glimpse inside my new and improved closet!

Outer wear:
Baggy sweaters
Long slouchy cardigans
Leather motorcycle jackets
Tight fitting military style coats

Bottoms:
Patterned leggings (I love wearing these as pants and pairing them with large t-shirts..so comfy!
Long Hellraiser inspired skirts (Think lots of zippers and straps)
Body con pencil skirts
Dickies brand pants (for work and casual days)
Yoga Pants (found in skull and inverted cross patterns...worn for 8am classes)
Scrubs
Distressed and torn black pants

Tops
Over sized band tees
Sheer button ups in various forms and sleeve lengths (for work)
Basic blouses with ribbons across the waist or long flowy sleeves (for work)
Tank tops is various styles and colors (for layering)
Tight fitting band tees (to wear with baggy scrubs and skirts)

Hosiery
ripped panty hose (in various patterns)
patterned knee high socks (for layering when cooler weather comes)
plain panty hose (work or when I give speeches)

Accessories and shoes
Different styles of infinity scarves in black (look these up..buy them..fall in love!)
Large pendants, chokers, small basic chain necklaces
Patterned plugs for stretched ears
Large brimmed hats (think Lydia Deetz)
Fishnet gloves in various lengths and other fingerless gloves

Oh and here are some current inspirations this month!

So are you absolutely stoked for Fall?

Haus of Gloi review!!

So recently I discovered the lovely indie/vegan business Haus of Gloi. I have thrown away/given away a lot of my smelly good items because I grew tired of the scents. Also body spray seems to never last in strength and over time the scent just fades completely away. I now have about seventeen Haus of Gloi items. Yes...I am addicted! So here are my reviews for what I purchased! (And also what I got for free with my orders.)

It puts the lotion on it's skin.

Autumn 2013

Persephone's Descent (perfume oil-sample-free item)

"Pomegranate, pale musk, narcissus blossom and black amber."

Hmm...definitely pomegranate. Fruity and dark. I am on the fence about this one.

Ghost Puffs (perfume oil-sample-free item)

"Buttery popcorn and marshmallow goo orbs, presented on a wooden stick."

At first sniff it is popcorn. But a sweet popcorn..think kettle corn with more butter. The die down is a creamy vanilla. I will be pairing this with some vanilla scented lotion!

Samhain (perfume oil and pumpkin butter-sample sizes)

"Freshly turned earth, wet leaves, and a cool spectre ridden wind."

In both the pumpkin butter and the oil the first scent I smell is dirt. Umm...very real dirt. When both settle on the skin it is still dirt and a strange mint smell. Not a fan of how this reacted on my skin. This will be given away.

The Horseman (perfume oil and pumpkin butter-sample sizes)

"Autumnal forest and wood, distant fire, smooth saddle leather, brown musk and the lingering scent of a dark gentleman's cologne on a black woolen coat."

This is too masculine for my taste. Well on me it is. All I smell on my skin is brand new leather and Old Spice. I have heard so many good things about this! This is another give away.

Summer 2013

Narcossa (full sized pumpkin butter)

"A thick haze of tonka and black vanilla, three jasmines, tuberose and ylang ylang."

This is my only full sized pumpkin butter because I snatched it on sale. And I do not regret it! This is so much like Nag Champa but with vanilla. The scent lasts for about seven hours on my skin and reminds me of the alt store I buy from. (where everything smells of incense.) My man says I smell like a hippie. He is not a fan but I love it.

General Catalog

Haus Amber (perfume oil and pumpkin butter-sample sizes)

"Rich and sultry - our own hand blended amber accord."

Oh yes please! Amber, vanilla, and incense! After I am done with the sample sizes I will repurchase full sizes of this! I love vanilla and things that remind me of incense. My man says I smell like a hippie when I wear this as well. Ah well..he will get over it.

Moon Dog (perfume oil and pumpkin butter-sample sizes)

"Solar storms erupt: pure cracked coconut, dry sandalwood essence, heated with nutmeg and clove."

This is not your average coconut. This does not smell of tanning oil. This is the smell of cracking open a coconut. I do not smell the nutmeg but I do get slight traces of the clove. The sandalwood is very slight. This reminds me of an island at night. Perfect for summer and fall. Full sized here I come!

Satyr (perfume oil and body emulsion-sample sizes)

"Absolutely fiendish creature! And quite frolicsome: Italian blood orange drizzled with blackened vanilla."

Yes! an orange scent I actually enjoy! At first smell this is like orange candy with deep vanilla. Then it dies down to a soft musky vanilla in the body emulsion. The orange lasts much longer in the oil version but does not smell artificial. A very grown up orange scent and a definite re purchase.

Twice is nice (perfume oil and pumpkin butter-sample sizes)

"Sweetest offerings of opulence! Buttery sugar cookie, with shavings of creamy coconut and topped with toasted almond slivers!"

I first smell almond, then on the skin I smell the sugar cookie. The coconut is barely present. This reminds me of when I would watch my mother baking cakes and cookies for Christmas.

I did receive a free sample sized perfume oil of Honey Tree but have not really worn it yet. I highly recommend buying sample sizes first due to body chemistry. And the prices of them are very cheap! (Along with everything else!) The shipping is super fast and everything is packaged so nicely. The customer service is amazing as well. I do not think I will ever go back to cheap body spray again. So are you a fan of smelly good things? Do you buy from indie/vegan companies? If not then you should be!!!

A cute coffin box filled with perfume samples.

Updates and random back to school haul! (pic heavy!)

So since classes started I have been so busy! My schedule usually is like this: have class at 8am then come home around 11...devour food..get ready for work.. go to work...get home and pass out. Repeat. So I have not really had the time to make any worth while posts. I did place an order with the lovely and addicting website Haus of Gloi. I was going to do a review post for the goods I got but then they came out with Autumn scents. Yet another order placed! So I was going to wait till this order gets in then give you guys the full review.

I receive a pell grant for college. A pell grant is like a free scholarship for those with low income or whose parents did not go to college. I am lucky I had some left over and I decided to go early Christmas shopping for my man and get me a few new things! I ordered new plugs online from Kings Body Jewelry and went shopping around at little local stores.

Here is my haul from yesterday!

These are from an alternative store called Zero Gravity. The Poe shirt is a size medium but since that was the only shirt they had left I decided it would make an amazing dress. The Marilyn Manson shirt fits me so awesome and the lettering is bright green. The thing about Zero Gravity is if you get anything from them it will have the smell of incense soaked into it. It takes about four washes or more to get the smell out! But I love it so no complaints.

Some basic tank tops to match the shirts. A bright green and white one. On sale at a "mainstream" store called Rue 21.

These are also from Rue 21! These are tights and I was lusting after them since I saw them. Rue 21 continues to amaze me with the clothes I find. Remember my Beetlejuice pants? Rue 21!  These are just so unique and they remind me of Rob Zombie for some reason.

Much apologies for the horrid picture quality. This pattern is on the waist band of a pair of yoga pants from Rue 21. Okay..so yoga pants are so comfy. They are not for everyone but they remind me of tighter fitting scrubs. I usually wear these around the house or a quick visit to the grocery store.

Some stores already have Halloween stuff out! I look for things I can use all year long. The tablecloth is for the kitchen since the one I have is old and boring. Then I found this amazing six piece kitchen set with dish rags and pot holders. I am so glad I had enough self control to not get plastic hanging bats. So a Haus of Gloi review is coming soon also! Now it is time for me to hop in the shower and get ready for work. Boo!

Filmaholic! (My top five favorite movies)

So classes start tomorrow! I am so excited and amazed and how fast Summer went by. The weather is getting cooler and I can actually wear a sweater without sweating to death! I posted on my Facebook that I needed some inspiration for a blog post. I also like to do posts that others would like to see. So this is my top five favorite movies! (Oh and they are not in any particular order.)

1.  The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

This movie is visually stunning. I highly recommend this movie. This was Heath Ledger's final film before he died. The story is brilliant and entertaining. This is not a kid friendly movie by the way. See this before you die!

2. Beetlejuice

This was one of my favorite movies as a child. Even though there is a few scenes with cursing in it. "Nice fucking model!" How did I not remember that quote when I was a kid?! Also Lydia fascinated me and the movie remains timeless.

3. The Cell

Okay..I know what you are thinking. Jennifer Lopez is in this movie?! Yea..I know. But this movie inspires me artistically and is so unique compared to other movies. I stumbled upon this assuming it was going to be boring. Not true!.

4. Dead Alive (aka Brain dead)

Zombie babies, butt kicking priests, giant zombie women, death by lawn mower! So many one liners and so much gore. This is the right amount of cheesy lines and camp. Take the movie Evil Dead and combine it with more blood and way too much caffeine. I recommend this to any fan of cult classics or gory zombie movies.

5. Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas

First of all..Johnny Depp is in this. There are so many amazing quotable lines and crazy hallucinations in this movie. I think this is one of Depp's greatest roles. If you do not like viewing drug use...then stay far away from this film. Far far far away!

So do you like any of the movies I like? Are you a big fan of cinema?

10 Random facts about me (Inspired by Sary Walrus!)

So I just viewed this post from The Walrus Room and was inspired! Yea...I agree with Sary. Not going to do 50 facts well...I am not sure if I can think of that many things. I have not been blogging that often due to me working almost everyday! And classes are starting next Monday! *insert stressed face here*

Shall we begin?

1. I love horror movies.

Not sure if you could tell by my Hellraiser purse..hmm. I have a large collection of horror themed items. I have fifty plus horror DVD's and rare VHS tapes that are horror related. I have figurines...etc. Not sure if it has to do with my love of Halloween or my love of the creepy.

2. I write poetry and draw.

My art is a mash up of anime, neo surrealism, and art nuevo. With a splash of gore and blood. I never have taken any art classes because I learn by observing not by telling. Art classes just tend to be talking in my experience. My poetry is very dark. My best writing has been when I was the most depressed. And now that I am happy, have a good job, etc. I have not made any good poetry. Hmm.

3. I am a Theistic Satanist.

Some days I feel like a part of the goth stereotype due to my religion. I have been dedicated for around five years now. But do not let this fool you. I am very accepting and eager to learn about new religions. I have a thing for rosaries. I like old religious art. Some fear my religion due to the "Satanic Panic". Some actually think I sacrifice animals. Uh nope. One of my best friends is a Southern Baptist. Strange huh?

4.  I like girls. I like boys. I like boys that dress like girls.

Sue me. I am comfortable in my own sexuality. I am not ashamed of who I am nor who I am attracted to. Enough said. Oh and I am all for LGBT pride!

5. I was adopted when I was three months old.

I love my mother! (I am referring to the woman who adopted me.) She gave me a great home, raised me well, and gives me the best advice. And she does not care about how I dress. She always has supported me. and dealt with my angst filled  teenage years. I was a pain in the ass!

6. I defy logic and mystify doctors.

Well when I was born I was supposed to have severe brain damage. I needed a heart monitor, and I was born with fetal alcohol syndrome. I also weighed three lbs when I was born...and I was premature. Goes to show you doctors can be wrong. And you can be whatever you want..despite health problems and the like.

7. I love video games.

Lollypop Chainsaw,Alice: Madness Returns, and Dante's Inferno are some of my favorite games. Oh and the Lego series games are really fun as well!

8. I am pessimistic.

Despite my bubbly attitude I find it ironic that I am not an optimist. *shrugs* I tend to put myself down and blame myself for simple things. I am trying not to self blame myself and it is a constant struggle to force myself to look at the positives.

9. I despise long sleeved shirts.

They feel constricting. I love sweaters and jackets but long sleeved shirts rub me the wrong way. I also do not like the look (on me) of long sleeved shirts.

10. I fear making friends in real life.

And this is not due to me being anti-social. I am very social! I fear that if I get too close to a person I will be betrayed. This is due to certain events in my life where I was betrayed. I fear losing friends even before I make friends.

Part of my bottle collection. I am not an alcoholic...trust me.

Night of the living metal ootd!

Well this is an outfit from Saturday really. My lovely rabbit (aka my boyfriend) had a show and a venue called The High Note. The name of the show was Night of The Living Metal and you could get a cheaper cover charge if you dressed up like a zombie. Well I lacked the time and makeup to be a zombie but ah well. I also recently acquired a skeleton hand hair clip and I love it to pieces!

I caved in and shredded my polka dot tights.

New Boots!

Top: A half shirt accented with safety pins layered over a basic tank
Skirt: On sale at JC Penny (it is sort of a pencil/bodycon skirt)
Tights: Wal-Mart I think
Boots: Shoe Dept. On sale for 30 bucks! I think they are Demonia knock offs
Necklaces: choker from Listia (originally from Hot Topic) and the inverted cross necklace is from Listia as well (Hand Made OOAK)
Sunglasses: stolen from the boyfriend

I love this hair clip so much!

Why I am goth and how I came to be goth

It has been a while since my last post. I finally signed up for classes for the Fall semester. I have about 12 more years of education to go through. I am going to be a forensic pathologist so basically I have to get a medical degree along with my degree in Forensics. And along with several others I am ready for this dreadful weather to end!

Ever since I remember I loved Halloween and vampires. I remember when I was six seeing a goth man with white contacts at a gas station and was fascinated by him. I always enjoyed the darker things since I can remember. But until sixth grade I had my hair in a high ponytail and wore..*gulp* pink dresses. My hair was still blonde at this time. I was an outcast then for being the weird and smart girl. Two girls during that time dressed in all black and listened to heavy metal. (They were transfer students.) I was inspired and I had just discovered Marilyn Manson and The Cure. I started wearing this ridiculous long and baggy black sweater along with my hair hanging in my face. I also had a pair of stompy boots I loved. The girls of course were angered and claimed I was just a copy cat. *snort* The most recent time I have seen them..they were all decked out in Abercrombie and Fitch.  During this time my self esteem was very low. I wore baggy black clothing to hide myself in. I admit I was not very educated about the history of goth culture.

I went through a time not so long ago when I wore denim and light colored shirts due to deciding If I was really into goth culture and the clothing associated with it or if I just went through a phase.I started feeling uncomfortable in light colors. I had made myself get in a rut because I thought in my beginning stages of goth I had to wear all black all the time. Not true! But I have always loved the aesthetic of gothic clothing and anything that goes with the subculture. I came to realize that I feel very comfortable with dressing the way I do. I cannot really explain why I like creepy things and such. But I know that ever since I was a child I thought different and liked different things than everyone else. I am goth because, well this is me. I would not feel myself dressing any other way.

Strangely enough Marilyn Manson was an inspiration for me. I know he is not goth but he does have the aesthetic occasionally. His music taught me to not be afraid to be myself. Not to be ashamed to be unique. Not to be ashamed or feel weird to dress different than everyone else. I was bullied a lot and his music really helped me not focus on the psychological pain associated with bullying.

So I am goth because, I just am! I am an individual and I love dressing the way I do. I discovered goth through music, television, and different people who were goth. (This is just to sum things up)

So do you have a musical inspiration?

Sugar Skull makeup! I was bored.

The Encyclopedia Gothica book review!

So If you did not know I work at a store called Books A Million. I recently ordered a book called The Encyclopedia Gothica. This book has a handy dandy family tree of Goth bands and Gothic places to visit before all around the world.

Google images

Bats bridge in Austin, Texas? This is on my bucket list. The way the book is sorted is of course an A to Z encyclopedia. From Absinthe to Zombies, I really enjoy this book. If you are not too knowledgeable of classic Goth bands or certain aspects of the culture I really recommend this book because of its format. I bought it just because. And of course it has little snarky comments here and there. It says the Perky Goth is "prone to bouncing.", and this is definitely relevant to me. I bounce...deal with it!

Horrid lighting!

The book itself is beautiful but not as big as I imagined it to be. The cover looks aged and the pages look distressed. Better than what I expected!

Also I have recently fallen in love with grey eyeshadow. I took pictures after a random day of Lost Boys inspiration. I also teased my hair and did a faux side shave look. So do you have a favorite gothy book?

Oh and I love wearing only one ear ring. Viva la 80's!
